A Milestone Celebration in Songdo

The city of Incheon has announced that the 2025 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival will take place from 1 to 3 August at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park. Marking its 20th anniversary, the festival is organised by Incheon Metropolitan Government and jointly hosted by the Incheon Tourism Organisation and Gyeonggi Ilbo.

Over the past two decades, the Pentaport Rock Festival has grown beyond being South Korea’s premier rock music event to become a major attraction on the global music stage. This year’s edition promises a star-studded international line-up that is expected to draw music fans from around the world.

A World-Class Line-Up of Artists

The 2025 festival boasts an impressive roster of 58 domestic and international acts. Headlining the event are legendary Britpop band Pulp, American alternative rock icon Beck, and renowned Japanese rock group Asian Kung-Fu Generation. They will be joined by celebrated Korean artists such as Jaurim, Crying Nut, Butterfly on Line 3, Kim Min-kyu of Delispice, Jang Kiha, and Galaxy Express.

Comprehensive Safety Measures in Place

In preparation for the event, Incheon City has taken extensive measures to ensure audience safety. These include expert safety consultations through the Performance Safety Support Centre and checks on all stage facilities. Plans are also in place to manage extreme weather conditions such as heatwaves, heavy rain, and strong winds.

On-site medical teams and emergency medical stations will be present throughout the venue. Additional security staff and operational personnel will be deployed in high-density areas to ensure swift responses to any incidents. Emergency evacuation routes and signage have also been installed for efficient crowd management.

Enhanced Facilities to Beat the Heat

To combat the summer heat, the size of the medical cooling zones will be expanded by 25% compared to last year, reaching 2,225 square metres. The supply of free bottled water will also increase significantly from 20,000 bottles in 2024 to 35,000 this year, helping to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Linking Culture with Community Engagement

In a unique initiative, Incheon City is integrating the festival with the Hometown Love Donation Scheme. Through this scheme, residents from other regions can make a donation to Incheon in return for discounted festival tickets, thereby encouraging participation and supporting the local economy.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “Over the last 20 years, the Pentaport Rock Festival has symbolised passion and freedom, setting a new standard for Korean music festivals. I hope this year’s event will once again bring people together from around the world to share unforgettable summer memories through music and culture.”

KB Kookmin Card Brings Festival Spirit to Life

Festival sponsor KB Kookmin Card is offering a range of interactive experiences that cater to both MZ generation fans and rock enthusiasts. The KB Kookmin Card Lounge will serve as a central hub, featuring programmes based on key products like KB Pay, the Teen-Up Check Card, and the Coupang Wow Card. These initiatives are designed to boost visitor engagement and brand awareness.

The lounge will consist of an air-conditioned ground floor, a second floor with a panoramic view of the festival, and a shaded outdoor rest area. KB Pay app users can access these spaces, and those who pre-set event notifications in the app will have the opportunity to make early reservations on a first-come, first-served basis.

Unique Experiences and Prizes for Cardholders

Customised events will be available depending on the card used. For example, Coupang Wow Card users can enjoy temporary styling tattoos, while Teen-Up Check Card holders can participate in a prize roulette game. These tailored experiences add an extra layer of excitement for festivalgoers.

To capture the moment, the second floor of the KB lounge will include a photo zone with a festival-themed backdrop. Outside, a “Joyful” signage photo tower, shaped after KB’s brand identity, offers visitors the chance to take memorable photos.

Additionally, the Joyful Game Zone will feature fun challenges like basket basketball, cornhole, and ring toss, open to all attendees.

Special Rewards at Nationwide Partner Stores

From 1 to 3 August, a nationwide prize event will run for customers who make purchases at Star Shop partner stores. Those attending the festival can bring their receipts to the KB Kookmin Card Lounge and try their luck at a capsule machine draw for a chance to win a variety of prizes.

A spokesperson for KB Kookmin Card commented, “Our participation in this year’s rock festival is part of our cultural marketing initiative to promote the benefits of the KB Kookmin Card Star Shop, including discounts and reward points.
