Armed robbers steal $8,000 worth of property from Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris’ Bahamian home.
An elderly caretaker was assaulted during the break in.
A property in Cable Beach, The Bahamas, owned by Iron Maiden bass player, Steve Harris, was burgled by a group of armed men in the early hours of Friday 29th November.
As Tribune 242 reports, the thieves breached the gate of the property by sawing through a chain, when they were within the grounds they proceeded to force entry into a building which was being used to store furnishings for a guest house on the estate.
The robbers got away with $8,000 worth of the stored items, which included Plasma TV’s, refrigerators and other appliances.
It is unknown if Steve Harris, who splits his time between Los Angeles and The Bahamas, was in residence when the invasion occurred. However it is known that at least one person was seriously injured during the break-in. Philip Pierre, a caretaker who had worked on the estate for over 43 years, was savagely assaulted by the thieves.
The property manager, Charles Beall of Clearwater Construction, talked of the severity of the attack.
“They assaulted our caretaker, Philip Pierre, assaulted him, put a knife on his throat, and left him in a pool of blood wrapped in duct tape. They stole more than $8,000 worth of stuff, whatever they could carry.”
He continued, revealing how angered he and his employees were by the attack on Mr Pierre.
“I have about 75 men that work for Clearwater, hardworking, honest, loyal men that know this old man and love him. They were furious when I told them that Philip was severely beaten and abused, so for three days we canvassed the island.”
“When we found out who these guys were, we met with police and the head of the criminal investigation division at Cable Beach police station.”
“They did an outstanding job, he gave me three of the best officers and they arrested one guy on Tuesday and on Thursday, four of us went and caught someone who confessed that he had a role in the beating and theft. We went into a building near his home and with police found much of the stolen goods.”
Approximately $5,000 worth of the stolen property was recovered by the police. Two men are currently under arrest for their involvement in the incident, a third suspect is being sought before any charges are made.
